Savages
03:11
|
|
||
I've been a deadman, but since those nights I've stretched to keep a level head
If I've learned one good lesson, It's how to keep an eye or two open while in bed.
Best watch out to what you're saying, cause bridges burn too slowly for my taste
I could haunt you if I wanted, but even Jesus said all things have their time and place
Oh mama, Oh sweet mama , don't you know your daddy he ain't gonna leave you yet
He only had five dollars and he spent them all on those goddamn cigarettes.

Bruises
04:44
|
|
||
These bruises on my arms are from where they drew blood three days ago
When the vein popped and traffic stopped, and the tunnel fell on a subway car
My head started swooning like a misguided Macy's Day balloon
When they picked me up off the floor they said "Boy, you better get yourself a room"
I curse the ghost for giving me up
I curse the ghost for giving me up
The helicopters swinging, zinging static and the television glow
The silent flip of a switch, the whispering radio
Well, this could've been my grave so I made my finest run
The smell of death, the IV drip, the one-off wheel on the pudding cart
In the dark who's going to find you out
In the dark who's going to find you out
In the dark who's going to find you out
In the dark who's going to find you out
In the dark who's going to find you out
In the dark who's going to find you out
These bruises on my arms are from where they drew blood three days ago
When the vein popped and traffic stopped, and the tunnel fell on a subway car

You Are Shaun Gannon
04:47
|
|
||
Saturday I woke up in a haze
And all the pretty girls, they know my name and they sing my praise
That one's Darcy, the other one's Penny
They say, "Oh Shaun Gannon, were you shot from a cannon? You are lore you are free!"
Then we cut right through the bones of each of our rivals
We raised our crooked fists to the sun
We tore it's heart out and then I ate it
But I'm not the only one, I'm not the only one Ohoho
Meanwhile, back at your old folks home
You had a awful dream and you let out a scream, what a lucky lucky girl
You were skating and figure-eighting
When you fell through the cracks, flat on your ass, into your mother's arms
Then we cut right through the bones of each of our rivals
We raised our crooked fists to the sun
We tore it's heart out and then I ate it
But I'm not the only one, I'm not the only one Ohoho

Xanax
04:11
|
|
||
I was prescribed several pills to ingest
To fix the holes in my head, to fix the holes in my chest
Then you stole them all and sold them to my friends
I was not well after that, I was not well after that
It was in grammar school when we first met
You were a girl to burn the world for and time I'd invest
Then the voices told my choices weren't the told
And the doctor told me that I was a Horrible mess
I cried, "Oh NO!"
I was on an airplane bound for the new west
When a baby started screaming, this new place to protest
Like a girl in Catholic school with much to confess
About the stains on her dress, and how she wasn't very blessed
While sedated, we crept our bodies with our eyes
We were twenty-one and reckless with our mind stuck on the high It was then I noticed you were a pessimist so I jotted down a list
Of all the words that I would miss
Oh no!
You, my pretty little spell, I promise I'll be well
You, my pretty little spell, I promise I'll be well
You, my pretty little spell, I promise I'll be well
You, my pretty little spell, I promise I'll be well

Mama Prays
02:16
|
|
||
Daddy says John Wayne saved our asses back in World War II
Daddy's flag waves on the street and all the pretty girls, they laugh and smile with him
But Mom says, "Don't give him what he wants, Just give him what he needs"
Mama prays everyday that the good Lord will grant her piece inside
Mama Prays everyday that I will find him before the end of time
She says, "Give him what he wants, and bless him with what he needs"
She says, "Give him what he wants, and bless him with what he needs"

Maypole
02:53
|
|
||
Well, I went to the station to catch my ride
When I heard a tremendous crash and saw those strobing lights
And I whispered to myself far too loud
And I whispered to myself and the passing crowds
"How I wish there was a train to take us out of here, how I wish there was a train.
Don't make me walk away, don't make me walk away from you, sweet Marie, for I shall remain the same."
When we reach the otherside of Heaven
Where the angels sing and string their ribbons
Round that old maypole and their bucket of gold
I'll be strapped for cash, but I'm ready to go
"How I wish there was a train to take us out of here, how I wish there was a train.
Don't make me walk away, don't make me walk away from you, sweet Marie, for I shall remain the same."
Don't make me walk away, don't make me walk away from you, sweet Marie, for I shall remain the same.
Put pennies over my eyes, best make it quarters, for the river Styx. Then, I'll be illuminated like a casket made of bricks.

Jesus
03:08
|
|
||
I like candy, I like shoes, I like the way you sing your blues to me.
Sing your blues to me.
I like candy, I like shoes, I like the way you sing your blues to me.
Sing your blues to me.
If love takes two, then two make three
I shot the roots from an old oak tree with a .45 my grandaddy gave to me.
Grandaddy gave to me.
I shot the roots from an old oak tree with a .45 my grandaddy gave to me.
Grandaddy gave to me.
If we have a wedding, a shotgun it'll be
Jesus came and saved the poor, Jesus came and saved a whore for me.
Oh, sweet Magdalene.
Jesus came and saved the poor, Jesus came and saved a whore for me.
Oh, sweet Magdalene.
If love takes two, then two make three
If love takes two, then two make three
If we have a wedding, a shotgun it'll be

Mushroom Clouds Aloft
03:38
|
|
||
Sitting on a creek in a paddle borne boat made for two
Never knew how long it'd take to keep my mind off of you
Climbing through the leaves and the vines of old I woke my bones
On bombs with rental suits, I wore my own set of shoes
I sat waiting for the light in wanting to set my soul on fire
I drew mushroom clouds aloft amongst the angel choirs
Christmas lights and walls, a prison of my own design
I lock myself into this madman suit made of stone
And, lo, your rock and roll crept out my mouth into the air
For ears or a nickel's worth of whispers to be unheard
I sat staring at the light in wanting to expire
You put the pillow to my skull and pulled the trigger higher
Then something happened to me that I can't explain
That seed you sowed through my bones went right to my veins
It said, "You've been an awful person, don't go on
It takes a grain of salt to let your soul linger on."

Morning Glory
03:36
|
|
||
I wish there was a light that shown half as bright as she did that morning.
I've lost the will to fight, my flight is headed to the heart of the east,
To find a soul I left all those years ago.
But I'm finding out it's stronger, now, than it used to be.
I wish I heard her voice to permeate the noise that remains, colliding through the hallways of my brain
So I built myself a wall, in the days when summer turns to rain then fall,
The pictures in the hallway throttle their frames
I'm finding out It's more dangerous that it was before.
But I'm stronger now so what's worth finding out anymore?
Well, I wish there was a light that flickered in her eye, that shown half as bright as she did that evening.
But I'm finding out it's more dangerous now.
